Once Upon a Time

Prepared in cooperation with Art50.net and Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, the exhibition “Once Upon a Time” welcomes visitors at Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul between March 4 and May 29, 2023. In the exhibition curated by the Art50.net team, the works of Cem Onat, Farzin Rahneshin and Nursun Hafızoğlu reach beyond the present with abstract connotations, inviting art lovers to reflect on time and the distinction between yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The three artists of Art50.net adopt the concerns of the past and the future, bringing their perception of time in their own way and their reactions on the effects of time flow to everyday life with abstract imagery.

Cem Onat uses the action created by his body as the main element of his works. The expressionist approach brought by his philosophical view appears as a method of immortalizing the moment of the artist, who is one with his paintings.

Farzin Rahneshin, in his recent productions, takes the lack as a phenomenon on its own, and deals with the emptiness of a person or feeling beyond what is left behind, taking refuge in serenity. The Iranian artist showcases shadows of people or objects that once existed, with his works produced using many different techniques.

Nursun Hafızoğlu prefers to express her concerns about the size of the postmodern urban order over time in her productions that include the “nature-city struggle”. While emphasizing our urgency to reconcile with nature, she keeps a critical look at today’s urban structure in her oil paintings by examining the relationship between us and nature from past to present.

The exhibition is on view until May 29th every day at the lobby and reception areas of Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul.
