The “Rhythmic Transitions” exhibition, prepared in collaboration with Art50.net and Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, welcomes visitors at Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, between 31 October 2023 – 31 January 2024. The exhibition, curated by the Art50.net team, invites art enthusiasts to catch the rhythm of the brand-new works of Cem Onat and Serap Can.
Two artists of Art50.net present works in which spacelessness and repetitive visual images are reflected in abstract spaces in various forms and using different color palettes. While Cem Onat uses the action created by his body as the main element of his works, in Serap Can’s works, although the movement seems almost frozen, it exists with a sense of visual dynamism. The unique rhythm of visual images stands out in the works of both artists.
Cem Onat adopts the action painting style in his artistic production process. The integrity in his understanding of art shapes all his paintings and his understanding of art. The triptychs in the exhibition are his latest works, painted without using some symbols such as Yin and Yang.
The movement created as a result of the technique used in his works is continued in other canvases and this occurs with an organic abstraction. A sense of constant flow and continuity prevails in these works.
Serap Can, on the other hand, includes randomly selected crowds from urban life in her productions. The artist, who is influenced by these scenes of people trying to realize their dreams, uses colors for symbolic communication purposes in his works.
The before and after of each moment gain meaning in an imaginable way, while the shadows add to this effect. The presence of crowds in her works emphasizes that the movement constitutes an impressive movement.
You can visit the exhibition in the lobby and reception areas of Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, 7 days a week until January 31, 24.
