The film Paper & Glue, is a documentation of the ideas behind the projects of French street artist and photographer JR, who makes very large photo installations in disadvantaged communities. Despite the ephemeral nature of his works, JR, shares the stories of the people in these photographs, questions the impact of art on social change. JR explores the echoes of his repetitive and perishing method of art with the audience as a documentary, keeping the spirit of Faces Places, which he created with Agnes Varda alive. Differentiating from the film they produced with Varda, it focuses on the interaction of people from different social structures with installations in multiple countries rather than focusing on a region. Paper & Glue, released in November 2021, underlines the importance of hearing marginalized voices.
