The documentary Faces Places focuses on the journey of Agnes Varda, one of the most important artists of the New Wave movement, and the French street artist and photographer JR, through rural France. Varda and JR, who wrote, directed and participated in the film, share the faces of the people they met during their trip with a mobile photography studio, and the stories behind their faces. Artists who focus on the stories of the working class, such as farmers, miners, factory workers, touchin many lives. Combining the hidden stories with the places through photo installations they made along the way, the dialogues between Varda and JR are also among the main points of the film. The production that has 36 awards and Oscar nominations, was showcased in 2017. Faces Places is one of the last two films that Varda shot in 2019 before her death, moves along the axis of the spaces that were meaningful in the artist’s life, questions the effects of memories, being human and the flow of time through the stories of others.
