A film on renowned British painter L.S.Lowry, who is known for his calm and mysterious cityscapes focuses on his relationship with his mother. Mrs. Lowry and Son display the artist’s struggle with his neurotic and bedridden mother after his father’s death. It shows this tense relationship of a quite dominant mother in the artist’s life and on his decisions, along with that how the artist’s identity coincides within. The artist’s struggles and resistance with his life responsibilities and change in his paintings are revealed, by examining the psychological pressure that lasted until his mother’s death. The film was first screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2019.
