You may view the selection at the lobby and reception areas of Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul between January 13 – March 8, 2020.
In wintertime, nature falls into a deep sleep. With their rickety trunks stripped of their leaves, trees quietly await the arrival of the coming spring. While we assume she sleeps, she is busy preparing for rebirth; perhaps, behind that deep and quiet wait, lies the most vibrant and vigorous return of all. The same holds for us. Being part of nature, we also need silence and calmness like her to prepare ourselves for a new beginning. And our most joyful springs arrive at our doorstep once we dedicate time to listening to our inner voice.
“Silent and Profound” brings together the works of Fatih Dülger, Nursun Hafızoğlu and Serdar Acar.
In his representations of nature with the concept of void as their central element, Dülger points at the finiteness of existence and the inevitability of change.
With the animals we do not expect to see in her sections of urban life, Hafızoğlu highlights how we are losing touch with our own nature.
Acar’s image of the cypress presented in a minimal background, on the other hand, symbolizes the self we eventually face in our mind, and its place in our circle of life.
