Returning for its second year under the curatorship of Fato\u015f \u00dcstek<\/strong>, Frieze Sculpture 2024 transforms London\u2019s Regent\u2019s Park into a dynamic outdoor gallery, showcasing 27 works by 22 international artists. The exhibition is open to visitors from September 18 to October 27<\/strong>, coinciding with Frieze London and Frieze Masters<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 12th edition of Frieze Sculpture, \u00dcstek explains her curatorial approach: \u201cThis year\u2019s Frieze Sculpture features daring and experimental artistic approaches. It also carves a place for playful encounters, socially and environmentally conscious themes, as well as conceptual and spiritual practices that expand the notion of public sculpture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition brings together a wide array of mediums and artists from diverse backgrounds, including notable figures such as Theaster Gates, Yoshitomo Nara, Nathan Coley, FOS, Albano Hern\u00e1ndez, Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, Hans Josephsohn, and Woody De Othello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, \u00dcstek is particularly committed to emphasising the representatio\u0131n of women and queer artists, who constitute the majority of the 22 participants of this year\u2019s edition consisting of acclaimed figures such as Zanele Muholi, Leonora Carrington, Ashwini Bhat, Anna Boghiguian, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Theresa Chromati, C\u00e9line Condorelli, \u0130nci Eviner, Frances Goodman, Libby Heaney, Nika Neelova, Fani Parali, Zizipho Poswa, and Kirstine Roepstorff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prominent Turkish artist \u0130nci Eviner<\/strong>, who is presented by Dirimart, is contributing to the exhibition with two works: The first is Materials of Mind Theatre is a thought-provoking and theatrical installation which comes comes to life through regular performances, the second is Under One Body performance piece that \u201cshows how blurred the boundary between living and non-living can be…\u201d \u0130nci Eviner will perform Under One Body three more times before the end of the exhibition. The performances, which are open to the public without booking, will take place as follows: 9 October, 4 pm and 5 pm; 10 October, 2 pm and 4 pm; 12 October, 2 pm and 4 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to coinciding with Frieze London and Frieze Masters, Frieze Sculpture 2024 also aligns with broader public art initiatives across the city, such as the Fourth Plinth and Sculpture in the City, as part of London Sculpture Week. As one of the year\u2019s most anticipated public art events, it offers both casual visitors and art connoisseurs an immersive experience amidst London\u2019s greenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frieze Sculpture 2024 elevates visitors\u2019 engagement with a series of public events, including Kirstine Roepstorff\u2019s Earth School with weekly Qigong workshops, a spontaneous performance by FOS titled Permission to Fall, a dive into \u201cdeep time\u201d with AONYX and DREPAN performance by Fani Parali; Night Walks as well as Public Curator Tours. Also, visitors are provided with exclusive content and an audio tour narrated by Fato\u015f \u00dcstek herself in the exhibition\u2019s official guide on Bloomberg Connects app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
