Co-organized by Art50.net and Swiss\u00f4tel The Bosphorus, the exhibition \u201cSynesthesia\u201d will be on view from 22 September 2022 to 2 March 2023 at Swiss\u00f4tel The Bosphorus, Istanbul. The exhibition curated by the Art50.net team features works by Filiz Piyale Onat<\/a>, Khayyam Zidane<\/a> and M\u00fcge Ceyhan<\/a>, offering the viewers an abstract experience interpreting various mental states, instincts, forms of perception and ways of existence.<\/p>\n

The synesthetic tendencies in the conveyance of the themes result in abstract compositions as the artists\u2019 minds reinterpret them at the intersection of the senses and perceptions. M\u00fcge Ceyhan\u2019s expressions of emotional rollercoasters based on color, Filiz Piyale Onat\u2019s mental landscapes and Khayyam Zidane\u2019s works questioning our existence combine multisensory experiences with artistic practices.<\/p>\n

Khayyam Zidane<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In his abstract paintings representing physical void, Khayyam Zidane<\/strong> depicts residual forms and patterns differently from what they truly signify. His works exploring the nature of our existence symbolize the time and distance where life resists the entropy that is increasing both physically and psychologically.<\/p>\n

In M\u00fcge Ceyhan<\/strong>\u2019s works, the cities, towns, streets, nights and days she builds using filled and empty spaces represent some imaginary worlds. The deeply contrasting colors often symbolize emotional rollercoasters, while the repeatedly used patterns refer to the places in our subconscious.<\/p>\n

M\u00fcge Ceyhan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In her latest canvas series Mindscape, Filiz Piyale Onat<\/strong> depicts the mental landscapes of the painters, writers, poets and musicians giving her inspiration. In each work in the series, she leaves tangible clues as to the identity of the individual whose mental landscape is reinterpreted, generating alternative worlds that allow us to experience both cheerful and pessimistic, and sometimes strange mental states. The exhibition features \u2018\u2019Shitao\u2019s Mindscape\u2019\u2019 from the series.<\/p>\n
