{"id":52714,"date":"2020-09-29T16:44:09","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T13:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/art50art.gurudesk.dev\/?p=52714"},"modified":"2025-01-30T23:39:08","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T20:39:08","slug":"frieze-week-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/art50.net\/en\/frieze-week-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Frieze Week 2020, London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This October sees the return of Frieze Sculpture in Regent&#8217;s Park and a hybrid programme of online and offline activity, reaching audiences worldwide via Frieze Viewing Room as well as celebrating the vibrant art scene in London.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Frieze Week programme will launch <strong>Monday 5 October<\/strong>, taking place both across London and online and is set to feature leading artists, collectors and curators across a wide range of exhibitions, talks and events.<\/p>\n<p>Over 200 of the world\u2019s leading galleries will participate online in the second edition of Frieze Viewing Room, bringing together work ranging from the ancient era to today\u2019s emerging and established artists. Frieze Week program includes Frieze Sculpture, LIVE, Frieze Talks and major museum shows across the city. As a response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this new hybrid model combines the global online reach of Frieze Viewing Room with a commitment to the creative spirit of London.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Frieze Viewing Room<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>With over 200 participating galleries from Frieze London and Frieze Masters, the second edition of Frieze Viewing Room will benefit from major new developments to the user experience.<\/p>\n<p>The app and web-based platform will be live from <strong>9-16 October<\/strong>, with invitation-only preview days on <strong>7-8 October<\/strong>, and present an extraordinary cross- section of artwork originally intended to be shown at Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2020.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_52719\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52719\" style=\"width: 713px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52719\" src=\"https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/jose_davila.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"713\" height=\"580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/jose_davila.jpeg 713w, https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/jose_davila-494x402.jpeg 494w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 713px) 100vw, 713px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-52719\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jose Davila, Untitled (Interior with Bathroom Painting), 2020. Photo source: skny.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The digital venture will showcase special gallery sections in line with the fairs\u2019 physical iterations, including:<br \/>\n\u2022 Focus, the Frieze London section, supporting the participation of galleries aged 15 years or younger and providing a platform for young talent.<br \/>\n\u2022 Possessions, Frieze London\u2019s new themed section curated by Zoe\u0301 Whitley (Director, Chisenhale Gallery, London) and centred around the power of spirituality in the art of our time<br \/>\n\u2022 Spotlight, the critically acclaimed section of Frieze Masters\u2019 dedicated to solo presentations by pioneering artists of the 20th century, curated by Laura Hoptman.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Frieze Sculpture<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Frieze Sculpture will return to The Regent\u2019s Park from 5 \u2013 18 October this year, featuring 12 ambitious works by leading international artists throughout the park\u2019s English Gardens.
