This area which was initially called Baks,, now called the village of Bayraktar, is the site of the Baks\u0131 Museum. Bridging together traditional handcrafts such as weaving and ceramics with Contemporary Art, this extraordinary Museum enables us to think outside of the box and it is one of its kind.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6174\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6174\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/artlog.art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/dsc_0279.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6174 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/dsc_0279-1024x678-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"Baks\u0131 Museum\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6174\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Baks\u0131 Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The foundation of the Baks\u0131 Museum, which today covers 30 hectars was initiated by Prof. Dr. Husamettin Kocan, a Bayburt born academic and artist. With an aim to bring arts to his homeland, he started the idea, which later turned into reality. A foundation was formed in 2005, and with the volunteer and artist contributions, the Museum\u2019s building project was turned into a social project. As a result of the extensive work, Baks\u0131 Museum opened its doors to the public in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_51629\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51629\" style=\"width: 1316px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-51629\" src=\"https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/baksimuzesii.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1316\" height=\"596\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/baksimuzesii.jpg 1316w, https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/baksimuzesii-494x224.jpg 494w, https:\/\/art50.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/baksimuzesii-1020x462.jpg 1020w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1316px) 100vw, 1316px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-51629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Baks\u0131 Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Museum is unified with the surrounding environment, and it has two buildings, a main building which was opened in 2010 and a new exhibition area, namely \u2018The Storage\u2019 which was opened in 2012.\u00a0 In these buildings, the Baks\u0131 Museum exhibits Turkish Contemporary art and artists, such as Kemal Tufan and Tugrul Selcuk alongside with traditional handcrafts such as weaving, ceramics and embrodiery. Reflecting the mission of \u2018openness\u2019, \u00a0it challenges, and hence goes beyond any limitations and rectrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Being in a constant dialogue with its environment is of key aims of the Baks\u0131 Museum. Accordingly, it brings a new spirit to the region with its education programs and events. These are as diverse as its exhibits that merge the new and the traditional.
