Born in 1991 in Istanbul, Mehmet Can Gürsoy graduated from Pera High School of Fine Arts in 2009 as a valedictorian. The artist who continues his education at the Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Combined Arts, spent the 2012-2013 academic year at Granada University as an Erasmus exchange student.
Gürsoy is interested in “life itself and the world of feelings and instincts”. According to the artist, the human body is similar to a tree with deep roots which, united with intuition, consciousness and thoughts, gives rise to a new creature with a head similar to that of a bird. Existence, the constantly moving force in nature that cannot be sensorily perceived but only voluntarily intuited, is the true guide; the body and the bloodstream becoming the carriers of plural selfnesses, on the other hand, are only its expressive instruments. Love and the actions based on love are where the existence beyond the universe of our common perceptions is felt the most. This is why existence can only become manifest once it is liberated from its fears.
